Public Lecture: Time - what is it?

John Mallett FRAS presents a lecture on the history and evolution of the measurement of time, including

  • The criticality of time in measurement of events. 

  • The time standards and how they are used to measure distant events. 

  • How we can now understand evolution of stars and solar systems by correcting for time local to each system.


John is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society. He has an engineering background in aviation training for most of his working life, progressing from R&D engineer to Engineering Director of an international Company.  Now retired and working with Altair Eclipsing Binary Science Research Group (EBSRG)
